Authorities reported they were notified by a individual who discovered a vehicle in Hanau smeared with reddish liquid

Roughly 50 vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to authorities.

Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were defaced, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.

Officers report they were notified during the night on Wednesday night, when a man discovered that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued substance.

The substance had been applied in the form of a swastika, they reported.

Police then located numerous other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under legislation outlawing the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.

Officials report initial examinations suggest the fluid was most likely blood from a person.

"There is still no indication as to where it came from; authorities are presently not informed of any injuries in relation with the event," they commented.

City officials announced they were working "to resolve the case" and have asked to the residents for information.

A high-ranking political figure stated the attack made him without words and had to be solved promptly.

"This event strikes at the center of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the extremist violent incident in 2020," he posted on social media, mentioning the murder of nine victims by a shooter focusing on residents of immigrant origin in February 2020.
